Complete Guide to ADAS

WHAT IS ADAS?

ADAS, which means Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, includes a variety of technologies, which help improve the driver’s awareness on the road and vehicle safety. ADAS comes in many forms, alerting the driver of everything from traffic signs and speed limits to covering their blind spots. ADAS are proven to minimize human error by alerting the driver to potential issues or taking over control of the vehicle.

Where are ADAS cameras and sensors located?

ADAS cameras and/or sensors are located on the front, back and sides of the vehicle to capture images of the road, road signs, vehicles, and any other obstacles. Images are then captured and relayed back to the driver and ADAS system to trigger a safety response to the obstacle. The safety response can be a variety of actions, such as triggering an emergency brake.

WHY RECALIBRATE?

In the event of damage requiring a windshield replacement, most vehicle manufacturers require recalibration of the camera connected to your windshield for the ADAS safety systems to work correctly.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE ADAS?

Our licensed, trained & insured technicians will be able to tell you if your vehicle has ADAS. The recalibration will be performed right after the installation of your new windshield.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

Your insurance company will cover the cost for the calibration to be completed as it is a part of the vehicles safety system. Most often recalibration service is performed at the time your new windshield is installed.
