1. Check all fluids, including engine oil, power steering, brake, battery and transmission. Also check your windshield washer fluid and antifreeze/coolant.
2. Check the battery to make sure the connection is clean, tight and corrosion-free. Replace the battery if necessary.
3. Make sure your headlights, taillights, and interior lights work. Functional headlights ensure that you have greater visibility at night and help you to remain clearly visible to other drivers when driving in bad weather conditions.
4. Check your windshield wipers. If they've been outside during a hard freeze or frost they may be torn and need to be replaced.
5. Check the brake system and have the brake linings, rotors and drums inspected at each oil change.
6. Keep your car's interior clean and sanitized, to kill any winter viruses. Germs will happily hitch a ride from your trip to the grocery store.
7. Check that the tire pressure is correct. Is the tread on your tires at least 1/16 of an inch? Check for bulges and bald spots, as uneven wear indicates a new for wheel alignment.
